iOS app designer guide to working with developers [Infographic]
A Lithuanian developer, LemonLabs, has recently published an interesting infographic detailing a few simple ways in which designers can prepare their assets for developers in a useful and sensible way. The advice ranges from simple standard resolutions for icons, to highlighting particular Apple style guidelines, and how to package your final bundle of assets. A lot of it seems like common sense, but I'm sure there are at least a few iOS developers out there who would like to make sure their designers have at least glanced over something like this.

Facebook?s Patent Acquisitions? They?re More About Google Than Yahoo
In the past few months, Facebook?s patent portfolio has grown exponentially as?a result of acquisitions of patent portfolios from IBM and Microsoft. After acquiring?650 AOL patents and patent applications from Microsoft, the company now has?approximately 1,400 patent assets. Amazingly, only 46 of these assets (24 issued patents?and 22 published applications) were originally filed by Facebook. In recent years, Facebook has consistently looked to the outside to augment its IP?holdings with strategic acquisitions of patent assets. The company paid 40 million for the?Friendster social networking patent portfolio, acquired a group of patents from Walker?Digital, and another from Hewlett-Packard. These deals expanded the portfolio to?approximately 160 patent assets prior to Yahoo?s lawsuit being filed. LG gives away 2,000 specially modified phones for the blind
Skipping on the LTE, HD IPS screen or dual-processor is usually not a recipe that will land your phone on the pages of Engadget. But, these LG-LU2700Ss are not just any unspectacular flip phone. The handset has been specially modified for use by the blind and visually impaired. The manual is printed in braille and, rather than require the constant mashing of buttons, the phone is controlled primarily through voice commands. 2,000 of the devices were given away as part of the company's donation program. Now if only they would mass produce them, LG would earn some serious cred.

Octomom to Keep Her Kids ... According to Octomom
Octomom's 14 children will not be taken away from her because she is a fine mother and doing an exemplary job ... according to Nadya Suleman herself.
The Orange County Department of Children and Family Services came to her house on Thursday to investigate claims of her children living in putrid squalor.
According to Octo, they gave her a "clean bill of health."
Three DCFS workers showed up at Nadya Suleman's Orange County home, and she says they gave her a rave review ... despite the shocking living conditions.
Octo told TMZ, "[DCFS] said it's a very suitable environment for these children."
Even crazier, Octo claims DCFS workers were actually impressed with her parenting skills, saying "They can't even believe that I can do what I've been doing."
You know, we could say the same, though in an entirely different context.
Is this woman delusional? They couldn't possibly have said that, right? Octomom did have a four-person cleaning crew show up prior to DCFS' arrival, so it's likely the place was not as bad as when her hairstylist blew the whistle.
Still, it's gotta be a madhouse, and she has no way of supporting a family that size. It's well established. So should Octomom's kids be taken away?

Crackdown On Download Bots Meant Installs For Top iOS Apps Took A Dive In March
Downloads for the top 200 free apps in the U.S. iTunes app store took a 30 percent dive in March, according to Fiksu, a Charles River Ventures-backed company that helps mobile developers find users cheaply. The culprit? Two things. One is that we're just coming out of the very lucrative holiday season, when downloads spike and people get new phones that they're eager to experiment with through trying tons of apps. The other may be Apple's crackdown on download bots, or automated programs that downloads apps tens of thousands of times to help them break into the top of the charts. Fiksu says that the top 200 free U.S. iPhone apps saw 4.45 million downloads per day in March, down from 6.35 million per day in February.
