United Way Grant Allows Case Man?age?ment and Par?ent Edu?ca?tion Expan?sion for CRADLES Program

AUSTIN, Texas, May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ ? CRADLES, a pro?gram of Austin Recov?ery, the largest and most afford?able drug and alco?hol treat?ment cen?ter in Texas, has just been awarded a $60,000 one-year early child?hood edu?ca?tion Com?mu?nity Invest?ment Grant on behalf of United Way Cap?i?tal Area. ?The fund?ing, which will com?mence July 1, 2011 will cover the expan?sion of ser?vices CRADLES pro?vides to Austin Recovery?s Fam?ily House clients and chil?dren in Travis County who are at risk for aban?don?ment. ?The grant will be uti?lized to add an addi?tional full-time Case Man?ager and another part-time Par?ent Edu?ca?tor for the pro?gram, allow?ing Fam?ily House to serve a total of 20 adult par?tic?i?pants and 40 chil?dren ages?0?6.

The CRADLES Pro?gram serves women in Travis County who are either preg?nant or have a child under the age of six that are con?sid?ered high risk for aban?don?ment or sep?a?ra?tion from their moth?ers. Fam?i?lies in the CRADLES Pro?gram are assigned a Case Man?ager who works with them to cre?ate a plan to address the needs of the chil?dren and the fam?ily. CRADLES ser?vices include: inten?sive in-home case man?age?ment, in-home par?ent?ing coach?ing and child devel?op?ment edu?ca?tion, child devel?op?ment assess?ment, short-term child?care stipends, lim?ited trans?porta?tion assis?tance and per?ma?nency plan?ning. ??Our tar?get pop?u?la?tion is moth?ers with sub?stance abuse issues,? said Trish Rivera, CRADLES Pro?gram Man?ager. ?Part?ner?ing with Austin Recov?ery, we now treat the sub?stance abuse while pro?vid?ing con?sis?tent and ongo?ing sup?port for moth?ers focused on fam?ily needs, par?ent?ing skills and the cre?ation or restora?tion of the fam?ily system.? ?

Austin Recovery?s Fam?ily House pro?gram pro?vides a min?i?mum of 90-days of drug and alco?hol rehab to moth?ers of young chil?dren. ?Fam?ily House allows moth?ers to bring up to two chil?dren under the age of six with them into treat?ment,? said Austin Recov?ery CEO Jonathan Ross. ?Treat?ing the moms and reunit?ing them with their fam?i?lies while in treat?ment allows us to work with them on par?ent?ing skills and the every?day stres?sors that make par?ent?hood chal?leng?ing.?
